The Wauchula Police Department is the first Law Enforcement Agency of Hardee County to be accredited through the Commission For Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. On September 23, 2011, Chief William C. Beattie, Captain Thomas Harris, Accreditation Manager Maria Rojas-Pearson, and Sandra Rojas, traveled to Jacksonville for the Commission For Law Enforcement Accreditation Conference to receive the Wauchula Police Department's fifth Law Enforcement Accreditation Certification. The department has been accredited since 1999 and is currently working on the 6th accreditation cycle.
Sgt. Dave Stimson , Accreditation Manager for the department is responsible for ensuring that the department is compliant with the standards required by the accreditation process. As well as reviewing, maintaining and writing the departments standard operating procedures.
Other responsibilities include review all department forms, brochures, and publications, all must meet department policies and be in compliance with the accreditation standards before being disseminated.
Purpose: The Accreditation Management System provides authority for the administering of the Accreditation process and the delegation of responsibilities to those involved. Due to the complex, changing and continuous nature of the Accreditation process, it is necessary to assign accountability, responsibility and a system of review to ensure continued compliance with Accreditation standards.
Policy: Providing policies and procedures that meet and/or exceed the minimum requirements set forth by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation and maintaining the directives in current compliance is the responsibility of the Accreditation Manager. The Accreditation Manager, shall have "Staff Authority" to discharge his responsibilities of ensuring the success of the Accreditation process and the continued compliance with all standards.
