MEET THE CHIEF
William C. Beattie was employed by the Wauchula police Department as a patrol officer in 1993 and worked his way through the ranks to become the eighth Chief of police for the City of Wauchula, appointed in 1999. Chief Beattie was born in Steubenville, Ohio and attended Steubenville High School from 1955 to 1959. Shortly after High School he voluntarily enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1965. In 1966 he started his law Enforcement career with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office moving to Florida in 1970. Chief Beattie contributes his more than 40 years of successful public service as a Law Enforcement officer to his commitment to his community and his loving family. Chief Beattie is proud to have lead the Wauchula Police Department to be the first fully Accredited Law Enforcement agency with the Commission of Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. in Hardee County and has successfully maintained that accomplishment to this date. Chief Beattie has been happily married for more than 30 years and has three children.
